 Bodegas Amaren was born in honor of Ángeles, wife of Luis Cañas and mother of Juan Luis Bodegas Luis Cañas, Rioja Alavesa.).

In 1995, Juan Luis Cañas was planning to make a different wine, a wine that fully expresses the personality of the variety. A 100 Tempranillo from several parcels of old vineyards. At that moment, his mother Ángeles passed away and that's when she decided to dedicate her creation to him, her new perfume: Luis Cañas Amaren Reserva Tempranillo 1995. From there everything arises, from the love of a mother, because Amaren in Basque means from the mother. Ángeles was a fundamental pillar in the creation and development of Bodegas Luis Cañas and for this reason, her son did not stop until he was able to honor her with his own winery in 2016.16.

Cement, stone and wood, that is the Amaren essence.

 

 

 

 

 

At Bodegas Amaren, the countryside is a way of life. They are true experts in working the vineyard, and the plots are the pieces of the perfect puzzle.

The winery is located in Samaniego Rioja Alavesa, and is surrounded by 65 hectares of vineyards between 35 and 110 years old. The vines are small in size and are characterized by being located in soils of calcareous clay origin with little fertility.d.

With a unique microclimate, the vineyard honors the winemaking tradition of the region by offering low yields, bunches and small grapes and excellent quality.
